NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH REPORT - 2023

It has been another fairly quiet year from a Neighbourhood Watch point of view - which is good!

We now have 107 members which is almost all the households in the two villages (some households have more than one member on the list) This shows our communities interest in, and commitment to, their neighbours and their welfare which is very encouraging.

People continue to contact me with information to pass on or they have queries which affect them and/or the community and I can usually direct people to a source if I am unable to answer myself. So I feel people are increasingly making use of the Neighbourhood Watch as a community resource and support which can only be a good thing.

I now have a direct contact to our Neighbourhood Police Officer, Abbey Carpenter, which is very helpful as we had lost that contact over the Covid years and we had to go through the whole police process via the 101 system. Abbey is very happy for people to contact her direct on her email if they have any concerns

however, any indication of illegal activity should be reported to the police using their online service.

The police and the Council are both monitoring the use of the caravan on Orestone Lane – I will keep a log for a month of any concerns that are reported to me and I will collate these and pass them on to Abbey. If you observe anything suspicious then let me know along with car registrations if relevant. If you observe obvious illegal activity then report this directly to the police online. Do not put yourself at risk at any time.

If anyone has ideas of how to improve or develop the Neighbourhood Watch then please do not hesitate to contact me.

I hope everyone enjoys the Coronation event on May 8th and we look forward to more community events in the future and hopefully a continuing ‘Quiet Neighbourhood Watch’.
